WORKING HOUSE FIRE ON PICKERING BEACH RD
Fri. May 7th 2010

Today the Little Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a reported House Fire along with Station's 46 and 53. The 911 center had received information that there was a fire in the basement. On arrival of Engine 54-5 the house had fire evident from a division 1 window and coming from a basement window the crew made forcable entry and discovered about 15 feet inside the door that the floor was gone. Apparently the fire had gone undetected for so long that it actually had burnt the entire division 1 floor completely away in 3 rooms. The crews backed out and went in thru a basement window and attacked the fire from the basement into division 1. Crews from Engine 46-4 took the 2nd handline and a roof ladder and attempted to bridge the gap in the floor and try to reach other areas of division 1 and do a primary search. An additional hose line was pulled with crews from Engine 54-2 and 46-4 that went to the attic division. Ladder 46-2 crew vented the roof. At one point we had 4 1.75 lines in service on all 3 divisons of the home. Crews from Engines 53-6, 535, 54-4 and Rescue 54 were used to replace the intial hose teams. Engine 46-3 manpower was the RIT company. Amabulance 55 was on scene as a BLS cover-up. Within 30 mins of arrival of the fire department the fire was under control and another hour of overhaul followed. 73 firefighters from Little Creek, Dover and Leipsic responded to the scene and a engine crew from Station 55 covered the Little Creek Fire District.
