FDNY comes to Little Creek.

Last weekend, Lt. Mike Scotto and his crew from the LIDS program at FDNY came to Little Creek to continue our RIT training. The LIDS program goes all around the country training companies in the area of RIT, or Rapid Intervention Team. They focus on making the training fast and simple to get the firefighters in and out of a bad situation fast and safe. Lt. Scotto and team have been coming to Little Creek several times a year for the past few years. This training evolution we went to an abandon house and focused on rescuing a down firefighter from all levels. We used several techniques in each situation. We were able to lift people through the floor, hoist them up stairs, and lower them out windows. This training is a vital part of our company for the fact that we run RIT for Dover and 5 other companies around us. This training has helped us achieve a reputation of excellence throughout Kent county. We are planning to have the LIDS crew down again at least one more time later in the year. The training is not just for Little Creek members. All firefighters are invited.
