A large fire devastated the storied Admiral Twin Drive-In on Friday.
Flames from a north Phoenix fire lit up the sky Thursday, the smoke plume coming from The Ultimate Movers warehouse visible for miles.
The treasured belongings of as many as 60 customers were stacked floor to ceiling inside the moving and storage company near 30th Avenue and Indian School Road.
Phoenix fire Capt. Jonathan Jacobs said there were vintage pieces of furniture, pianos, automobiles and other items inside that are now just charred remains.
Sept. 02--A small fire damaged Promise Regional Medical Center's newly renovated Heart and Vascular Center about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, but no patients were endangered and the center was quickly functioning again.
Fire was limited to an incubator in one of the laboratories, said Hutchinson Fire Department Battalion Chief Darin Gehring. One automatic sprinkler came on and contained the fire until firefighters arrived, he said.
"The sprinklers did exactly what they were intended to do," he said.
Sept. 01--The Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the causes behind a fire that started in the smoke house of Hillside Turkey Farms this morning, according to Guardian Hose Co. Chief Chris Kinnaird.
Firefighters responded to a smoke alarm warning at the turkey smoking, processing center and shop at 30 Elm Street in Thurmont at about 5:30 a.m., Kinnaird said.
Sept. 01--BELFAIR -- Backed by the Mason County Fire Marshal, firefighters in Belfair are currently removing about 50 locks from fire hydrants.
The locks were installed about a month ago by the Belfair Water District as a way to curb water theft. But crews with Belfair-based Mason County Fire District 2 -- who've had to cut the locks in responding to recent fire -- felt that they were a serious safety hazard.
Sept. 01--BREMERTON -- A candle left burning early Tuesday morning began a fast-moving blaze that consumed everything but a chimney on one home, ravaged another and destroyed three cars.
The couple whose home was destroyed survived the fire on Jacobsen Boulevard early Tuesday by running out their front door just before flames arose from the porch. They woke up their neighbor, Michael Loy, and called 911.
