Boat Fire in the Delaware Bay

On Tuesday 7/18/23, Station 54 was alerted for the fire boat to assist Cumberland County Station 39 Downe Twp Fire/Rescue and Dive Team with a boat fire in the area of the Cross Ledge Lighthouse. While responding, USCG arrived and was able to rescue 1 occupant. The occupant was taken to the New Jersey side for medical attention.

54M1 arrived and found a 42ft vessel with fire throughout. 54M1 put their fire pump in service and quickly knocked the bulk of the fire. 54M3 arrived and acted as the safety boat. Fireboat One-Five  and Fireboat 40 were on the air and responded for mutual aide. Crews worked for around 1.5 hours.

The vessel was turned over to the USCG and all fire units cleared.
